Emily Rose began as a doll kit without colour or hair. Using many layers and a limited pallette I have built up a multidimensional complexion that matches that of a real baby. Emily Rose has subtle mottling, capillaries, veining and even texture that will not chip or fade. Each layer has been heat set and not a wrinkle or crease has been overlooked. From the top of her head to her ten tiny toes. Her nail beds have all been painted in natural colour and coated with a satin varnish. She has hand painted barely there eyebrows that follow the natural growth of a real baby. I have painted Emily Rose’s lips and slightly glossed them. The dewy complexion was achieved using certain Genesis mediums and matt varnish, if you look closely it seems she has pores, and she has a little sheen to areas such as her sweet upturned nose.
Emily’s hair was micro-rooted using the softest premium Angora in a lovely baby brown shade with multi-tonal colours throughout. This is the best mohair we have found from a fantastic supplier in the US. This hair has a strong wave to it and looks lovely when dried or brushed down damp.
Emily’s has a custom designed doe-suede body made by Spearson Dolls in the US. She has been filled in the limbs and head with fine glass bead and premium heavy weight fibrefill. Emily’s head has been weighted so will need supporting much like a real baby's would. She has pouches in her tummy and bottom containing Elastomer pellets which are also known as “baby fat” they give her a wonderfully “squidgy” feeling. You won’t want to put this little one down!
All of Emily’s pictures have been taking in only natural light. The sun was in and out of clouds all day so gives a good idea of her colouring in different casts of light. We think you’ll agree perfect no matter which way.
Emily comes home with both of the outfits you see in her pictures. Firstly the hand made dress with mathing panties and bonnet. Also, the cute set from Vertbaudet that comprises vest, dungarees, wrap over cardigan, hat, mittens and bootees. Not everything is shown as there was lots to showcase. She’ll also have with her the little headband, Second Nature reborn certificate, her favourite baby blanket and a cuddly toy to keep her company on the journey home.
